MWC 2017: Alcatel introduces the Plus 12, a Windows 10 based laplet

Alcatel introduced a 4G connected 2-in-1 personal computer, also known as a laplet at ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona. Aimed at business users, the laplet comes pre-installed with a range of productivity oriented applications and services. The laplet offers a complete mobile office experience, and can even be used to create a wi-fi hotspot for up to fifteen other devices.

The laplet uses Windows Hello for quick and secure login, which is a biometric identification system by Microsoft. There is no need for using passwords to secure the device. Windows Ink allows users to take notes and annotations on the touchscreen. Cortana, the AI assistant from Microsoft is available to set reminders, schedule tasks, find things on the internet and generally improve productivity.

The Plus 12 is powered by an Intel Celeron N3350 and comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is a microSD card to increase the storage to 128GB. It houses a non user replacable 6900mAh battery.

The 12-inch device is one of the lightest laplets for its screen size in the market, weighing just 990 grams. The metal front casting has a premium brush effect finish. There are multiple ports available on the device, including a USB type C, a USB type A, a micro-HDMI port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The laplet is designed to provide an good video conferring experience with a full HD screen and a 5 megapixel front facing camera.
