MWC 2017: Sony’s Xperia range for 2017 leaks hours before launch event

Sony is down but not out. It sent press invites for a launch event at the ongoing MWC 2017 back in January and at that time it was speculated that Sony will launch two new smartphones. Just after a week, we heard that Sony has five smartphones up its sleeves that will be launched on 27 February. However, today we have an image which shows four Xperia handsets standing tall.

This could be the real deal as the image comes from Evan Blass, who has leaked out credible information in the past. From the image we can see that the two smartphones on left have an edge to edge display, pointing to the fact that they could be successors to last year’s Xperia XA and XA Ultra. The first smartphone in the line is also bigger and has a front facing flash, so that if definitely going to be an ‘Ultra’ smartphone.

The other two seem to be successors for the Xperia XZ. There was a recent tip saying that Sony will bring a successor to the Xperia Z5 Premium with a glossy back and 4K HDR display, so it is safe to assume that the Xperia XZ Premium is on its way.

Sony’s press conference is scheduled for today at 8.30AM CET which is 1.00PM in India. We will be bringing all the info from the launch event, so stay tuned.
