Samsung announces Infill and Growth Project in partnership with Reliance Jio

Samsung India has announced the launch of a new project in partnership with Reliance Jio. The project Infill and Growth (I&G) will focus on upgrading the current LTE mobile communication infrastructure in the country along with expansion of the network capacity and coverage.

I&G has set high standards for the LTE services in the country which will ensure high speed internet connectivity regardless of the location of the user. LTE services will use 850, 1800 and 2300 MHz bands to ensure that the users good connection both indoors as well as outdoors. This comes right after Samsung displayed its 5G product portfolio in the event. The products will help the commercial rollout of 5G services in 2018. Reliance Jio pointed out that their network in 5G ready.

Samsung has provided LTE core, base stations and solutions that enable VoLTE services and along with Reliance Jio, the company has successfully established world’s largest greenfield LTE network.

Jyotindra Thacker, President of Reliance Jio Infocomm added, “We successfully achieved 100 million subscribers in 170 days, making us the fastest-growing company in the world, and the numbers continue to rapidly grow. It was possible because we introduced a truly effective LTE service, pan-India. We are committed to bringing game-changing digital experiences to India with superior ecosystems, mobile content, all-IP networks and ongoing process innovations.”

Youngky Kim, president and head of Networks Business at Samsung Electronics went on to add, “The massive deployment of over a million cells across India is especially remarkable. We will strive to create new paradigms for LTE-Advanced Pro and 5G by closely cooperating with Jio as a unified workforce.”

Both the companies pointed out that the relationship between the giants dates back to 2012 when they signed a key agreement that covered the scope of network from supply of equipment to establishing the equipment to maintaining the established equipment.
