SoundCloud introduces SoundCloud Go, a mid tier ad-free subscription plan
SoundCloud has introduced a subscription plan that allows users to listen to 120 million tracks a month without ads and download them for offline listening.
The mid-tier plan is available for $4.99 (roughly Rs 333) a month. The premium tier subscription is also available, which is the SoundCloud Go+ plan that offers 150 million plus ad-free tracks for $9.99 (roughly Rs 666) a month. The premium-exclusive SoundCloud Go+ tracks are not available in the SoundCloud Go pricing tier.
SoundCloud is claiming that this is the first plan to offer fully on demand listening experiences at that price point. Users can choose which tracks to play, where to play them from and play back a single track as many times as they like. While the additional subscription plan is meant to allow users to access ad-free content and offline tracks, the plan gives an additional revenue stream for audio content providers on SoundCloud.
SoundCloud Go is available through the web, on iOS and Android. The pricing tiers are a little more expensive on the iOS platform because of the App Store surcharge, but users can avoid paying extra by paying via the web version of the service.
New users can try out a subscription at any tier for the first thirty days, for free. SoundCloud Go will initially be available in US, UK, Ireland, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Germany.
