Vivo Y55s with triple SIM card slot launched in India at Rs 12,490

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has launched its second smartphone of the year Y55s with 13MP rear camera in India for Rs 12,490. The device, an upgraded version of Y55L (launched in October last year), will be available in crown gold and space grey from February 26.

“Focused on our commitment in servicing customer satisfaction through quality products, we are hopeful that our latest innovation will be as successful as our previous offerings,” Kent Cheng, CEO of Vivo India, said in a statement.

The 4G-enabled smartphone features a 5.2-inch HD display and a 2.5D curved screen. Powered by Snapdragon 425 processor and paired with 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM, the device runs on Funtouch OS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device is equipped with three card slots. The third slot supports an external memory of 256GB. It has a 2,730 mAH battery.

Recent reports indicate that Chinese handset makers Oppo and Vivo have increased their market share from a mere 2 percent to a whopping 18 percent seemingly overnight. All this market share was gained from ground lost by Indian smartphone makers and even Korean giant Samsung.
