Volvo XC60 teased ahead of Geneva launch; reveals new design features
Swedish automaker Volvo has been gradually building the hype around its upcoming XC60 crossover on social media. While the final reveal takes place on 7 March, a couple of new teasers from its social media page reveal some interesting features of what would be a redesigned XC60 this year.
There’s one with a driver posing out side a garage with just the front grille being barely visible. What’s noticeable to many are “Thor’s Hammer” head lamps that look new and more in line with Volvo’s refreshed lineup.
A closer look however reveals something different in the design, where the handle of the “Thor’s Hammer” LED set up fuses with the radiator grille at the lower end.
Volvo’s event thumbnail reveals a new tail light design as well, with an LED set up that literally wraps around the corner and onto the rear hatch keeping in line with front end in what appears to be an ‘L’-shape.
While there’s still plenty left to the imagination, older spy shots reveal a design that is similar to the outgoing XC90, only smaller.
For now there’s no confirmation on the what comes inside the next-gen XC60, but it should pack in internals similar to the previous model. This would include a 254bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engine. Considering that the XC90 also arrived in a plug-in hybrid variant, we could see a similar variant of the same being announced as well.
