Blizzard Entertainment has signed an agreement with E-Express to officially start selling games in India
To many, Blizzard Entertainment represents the holy grail of gaming. This developer’s games have been path-breaking titles, the oldest of which still hold their own today. It is with some degree of reverent joy that we would like to report that Blizzard Entertainment will officially start selling its games in India thanks to E-Express.
For Indian gamers, the games marketplace used to be an expensive haunt. Games would land up here at US prices and more often than not, you’d need a credit or debit card to purchase games. Things did improve over the years, and the advent of Steam as a games’ marketplace changed many things. The issue of cost, however, wasn’t addressed until the likes of NovaPlay stepped in and brought India-friendly payment options to international games’ retailers. Overnight, games became affordable.
E-Express Interactive Software Private Limited is one of the more prominent game distributors in India as well and among the first to offer games at reasonable prices. Today, they’ve announced a distribution agreement with Blizzard that brings Blizzard’s best titles to the country. This includes Overwatch, Starcraft II and Diablo III.
The games will soon be available at retailers like Games The Shop, Landmark, Croma, Flipkart and Amazon.
Sadly, the prices aren’t as low as we’d like, but they’re still lower than international prices, so that’s something. As with Blizzard’s game sales in China and other Asian territories, we sincerely hope that prices fall further.
