Moto E4 Plus with 5,000mAh battery and MediaTek processor spotted online; launch imminent

Owners of the Moto E3 can now finally breathe a sigh of relief as a worthy successor has now been confirmed. New details of a Moto E4 Plus model have surfaced online and going by the hardware specifications that have been made official, it will pack in quite a punch.

The listing pointed out by Roland Quandt on Twitter reveals that a smartphone tagged as the Motorola XT1773 had passed through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for certification in the USA.

The listing revealed a device that is a bigger variant of the humble Moto E4. On paper, the device packs in a massive 5,000mAh battery along with connectivity features like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. What we also know is that it will be powered by a MediaTek chipset.

The news comes shortly after a handset going by the model number XT1762 was similarly spotted at the FCC last week. However, the Moto E4 spotted on the FCC featured a smaller 2,800mAh battery along with identical connectivity options save for the NFC bit.

In all probability, the Moto E4 Plus could be a direct competitor to Lenovo’s own K6 Note, the Asus Zenfone 3S Max and Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4.

All of these devices pack in massive battery units and have been built from the ground up to deliver better battery life. The Asus Zenfone 3S Max comes even closer and it too packs in a 5,000mAh battery with a MediaTek chipset inside. And with Nougat expected to arrive on both the E4 and the E4 Plus, it may turn out to be the 3S Max’s only competitor on paper.
