Moto G5 officially launches in India for Rs 11,999; sales start from 5 April on Amazon

After announcing the Moto G5 Plus in India last month, Lenovo has today announced its younger sibling, the Moto G5 for the Indian market. The Moto G5 is a smaller version of the G5 Plus and features more entry level specifications when compared to the G5 Plus. Moto G5 will go on sale at a price of Rs 11,999 on Amazon India from 5 April midnight.

Lenovo has announced some launch offers which will be applicable to consumers who decide to buy the smartphone on 5 April and 6 April 2017. The buyers will get Rs 1,000 back on using HDFC Bank credit card for the purchase and extra Rs 500 off on exchange of an old smartphone. Lenovo is also giving a free 16GB microSD memory card to buys as part of launch offers.

In addition to launch offers, Amazon will give Rs 1,000 offer to Amazon Prime members who will use Amazon Pay balance to buy the smartphone. One thing to note is that Moto G5 will come pre-loaded with Amazon India, Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kindle apps.

The Moto G5 features a 5-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution and a Gorilla Glass 3. On the inside there is an entry level Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset as opposed to the more mid-range Snapdragon 625 seen on the Moto G5 Plus. In terms of RAM and storage, the Moto G5 will come in two variants – 2 GB RAM with 16 GB Storage and 3 GB RAM with 32 GB Storage. But in India only the 3 GB RAM + 16 GB storage variant will be selling.

The battery is also smaller on the Moto G5 rating at 2800 mAh whereas that on the Moto G5 Plus is 3000 mAh.
