Ola customer charged Rs 149 crore over a cancelled ride

An Ola cabs user from Mumbai was in for the shock of his life when a glitch in the Ola system threw up a bill of Rs 149 crore for a cancelled ride. Rs 127 was automatically deleted from the wallet, with the rest of the amount being demanded in cash. The customer mentioned that the cab driver did not even come to the specified location, and the customer was automatically billed after the ride was cancelled. The amount occupied the entire screen, even pushing out the Rupee symbol.

The customer resolved to use only Ola competitor Uber in the future, but Ola cabs promptly responded saying that there was a glitch in the system that caused the error.

Ola joked about the incredible amount being charged, and extended an offer on discounts on future rides. A little while later, the support account for Ola cabs requested the ride details to look into the matter. The whole incident took place on 1 April, fueling speculation that the entire episode was an elaborate prank by Ola.

This was not the first time that a ride showed ridiculous numbers. A Twitter user pointed out an older ride, where the customer was charged Rs 1,512 for a 23 minute ride over a distance of 115 kilometers. If you are wondering which of the numbers were glitched, it is the distance, which was actually 8 kilometers. Ola reached out to the customer on Twitter, but the user claims that the issue has still not been fixed.
