You need to backup all your data before installing the Open Beta as you may lose the data on your smartphone. One thing to note here is that you will receive an OTA update if you are already on previous Open Beta updates.

Tech2 is not responsible for any loss of data or harm done to your device. This process assumes that you are on stock recovery and OxygenOS without any modification.

  • Download the Open Beta file corresponding to your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T.
  • Copy and paste the file in the root directory of your smartphone that means that directly copy in your Internal memory folder and don’t paste it in any sub folder.
  • Switch off your smartphone, wait for 10-15 seconds to ensure that the device is properly turned off.
  • Press and hold Power and Volume down button and the same time for till the device vibrates and screen turns on, this will boot the device in recovery mode.
  • Select the language and click on Install from Internal Storage and select the zip file in the next step. The recovery will install the zip file and reboot twice to the updated software.

This process can also be done by adb sideload where you need to ensure that you have all the adb files installed on your system. To use the adb sideload method, download the adb files and ensure that you have copied the Open Beta 13 ROM file in the same directory.

  • Open terminal on macOS or command prompt on Windows
  • Reboot to recovery by turning off your smartphone and then pressing and holding the volume down and power button till vibration
  • Select the language of the recovery and select ‘Install from ADB’
  • Press on ‘Ok’ when asked if you want to ‘Upgrade Android from USB’. Here your smartphone will say that ‘You are in sideload mode’
  • To check if everything is okay, type ‘adb devices’ to check if your system can recognise your smartphone device. If it shows a alphanumeric code then you are good to go.
  • Next type in ‘adb sideload <openbeta13filename.extension> and hit enter with the name of the open beta file name in place of ‘openbeta13filename.extension’.
  • This will load and install the Open Beta 13 in your OnePlus 3 and reboot the device.
