Reliance Jio to withdraw complimentary offer on Trai’s advice

Reliance Jio has has told in a statement that it will be withdrawing its complimentary offer to Jio Prime members. The move comes just days after the announcement of the offer that was to offer 3 months of free service to Jio Prime customers who made their first paid recharge of Rs 303 and above.

The operator in a statement said that it will be withdrawing the offer in the next few days after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) advised them to do so.

“Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the 3 months complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days.” Read the statement.

To clear the air about the withdrawal of the offer, Jio said that all customers who have already subscribed to the Jio Summer Surprise before the discontinuation will continue to remain eligible for the 3 months of free service.

“The Jio Summer Surprise is the first of many surprises for our Jio Prime members. This complimentary period will also help to familiarize Jio customers with Jio’s fully digital, self-service process of using the MyJio app to perform recharges and to set up digital payment methods for further purchases.” Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh D Ambani said in an open letter to the company’s customers.
