MWC 2017: Chinese smartphone maker Vernee to launch Apollo 2 with 8GB RAM

The annual Mobile World Congress can be a great opportunity to discover new mobile device manufacturers. This year, Chinese electronics firm Vernee will be heading to the event in Barcelona, Spain for the first time to present its new smartphones, including the eagerly awaited Apollo 2. Founded just one year ago, in February 2016, Vernee is already aiming high, with hopes to get its technology and expertise recognised on a global scale. In that respect, the Mobile World Congress is a first essential international event for the brand, looking to showcase its new products and brand values to consumers worldwide.

The smartphones likely to premiere globally at the Barcelona event should include a relatively high-end model called the Apollo 2 — the first to use a MediaTek Helio X30 processor.
This chip is an alternative to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor presented at the last CES in Las Vegas, which is likely to equip the biggest top-of-the-range Android smartphones, including the upcoming Samsung S8.

Various technology websites report that the Apollo 2 could have a fingerprint reader, up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard memory (extended with a microSD card). The phone is expected to run the Android Nougat (7.0) operating system with no custom interface. Vernee plans first of all to branch out into South-East Asia, as well as India and South America. However, its products can also be bought online as imports in various other countries. The brand is owned by the Shenzhen New-Bund Network Technology

The brand is owned by the Shenzhen New-Bund Network Technology Co, and is based in Shenzhen, China. The manufacturer aims to make products offering innovation and performance at competitive prices. All in all, the brand has a similar philosophy to many other Chinese manufacturers, such as Huawei (138.8M), Oppo (84.6M) and Vivo (71.9M), who currently follow Samsung and Apple in the world’s top five biggest smartphone sellers.

Other Chinese brands like Xiaomi and LeEco are also seeing sales grow year on year. As a result, Vernee will need to make sure it stands out from the crowd enough to enjoy its share of success.
