Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 running Android Nougat spotted on Geekbench and GFXBench

Samsung is working hard as the launch event for the highly anticipated Galaxy S8 approaches. However, one thing to note is that the company is not neglecting other lineups as it works on launching the flagship.

According to a recent report by MySmartPrice, Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) was spotted on benchmarking websites Geekbench and GFXBench. This points out at an impending launch of the updated Galaxy J series in coming weeks. The company launched Galaxy A series smartphones, the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 earlier this month.

According to the report, Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) will come in a number of variants depending on the market the device will go on sale. The international version of the smartphone is model number SM-J530 while the one spotted on Geekbench comes with SM-J530FM.

The benchmark points out that J5 runs on Android Nougat 7.0. It will be equipped with Exynos 7870 processor along with Mali-T830 GPU to power the graphics. The smartphone will offer 2GB RAM along with 16GB internal storage along with an expandable microSD card slot.

The results further point out that the smartphone will come with a 4.8-inch HD display with effective resolution of 1280×720 pixels in comparison to the 5.2-inch HD display in the Galax yJ5 (2016) last year. The company has added a 12MP camera module on the back and a 12MP camera module on the front for selfies.

Samsung has not given any official statement for the launch of J series at the time of writing.
