YouTube TV brings live television to your mobile device at $35 per month

Google has worked with networks and affiliate partners to bring live television coverage to YouTube, with a focus on live sports content. The move is aimed at cord-cutters, viewers who prefer to consume all their video content through web services, doing away with traditional dth or cable for access to television programming.

There are over forty six networks that are initially available on YouTube TV, including abc, Fox, ESPN and Showtime. SyFy is also going to be available as a channel.

There are a number of channels available from each of the networks. Major broadcast shows are going to be available, including The Big Bang Theory, Empire and The Voice. Viewers can catch up to local sports and news as YouTube has partnered with local and regional cable channels as well. There is a cloud DVR service that allows users to record an unlimited number of Television shows, even two streams simultaneously, and watch it later at their convenience.

YouTube TV will be available on smartphones, tablets, computers, and on traditional televisions through Chromecast, or a TV set with Chromecast functionality built in. The cloud DVR service is also available on all the devices. Users can cancel their subscriptions at any point of time. Every YouTube TV membership comes with six accounts, each with unique recommendations and a personal unlimited DVR. Three concurrent streams can be accessed at any point of time.

The YouTube TV membership comes at a price of $35 a month (roughly Rs 2,335), with no subscription commitment. Initially YouTube TV will be available in the largest US markets, with plans to expand into other areas soon.

While you will have to wait for quite some time until the service arrives in India, Google Play Music’s All Access was launched today. While Google Play’s music store opened up in India back in September 2016, it did not have a subscription service, like Apple Music. All Access on Play Music brings just that and it all comes at an introductory price of Rs 89 per month.
