This online petition is all for affordable internet access
A new petition on change.org has been gaining momentum lately with more supporters signing up by the minute. The petition simply states that the average Indian needs affordable internet access and has gain traction among celebrities and the like.
The petitioner claims that Trai that was once supported by the common man for its stand on Net Neutrality now stands against the availability of affordable internet access.
With data consumption on the rise (going up from 1GB/month to 30GB/month) India has become the largest consumer of mobile data in the world. The petition hints at Trai shutting down Jio’s Summer Surprise Offer that provided the common man, access to the internet for cheap and requests Trai to reconsider keeping the vision of Digital India in mind.
The petition has seen support from celebrities as well:

So far the petition has seen 63,469 supporters with and is rising by the minute. The petitioner has made it clear that he is in support with any telecom operator that offers affordable internet to the consumer.
Reliance Jio has said in a statement that it will be withdrawing its complimentary offer to Jio Prime members. The move comes just days after the announcement of the offer that was to offer 3 months of free service to Jio Prime customers who made their first paid recharge of Rs 303 and above.
